ASDA picks flb for Electricals pack design

ASDA is rolling out an own-branded electricals range in stores, as the Wal-Mart owned supermarket chain continues to extend its brand into general merchandise.

Branding and packaging consultancy flb has designed a strong packaging template for the ASDA Electricals range, which includes household products such as kettles and toasters as well as audiovisual equipment such as radios and televisions. 

Simon Arundel, Senior Packaging Design Manager at ASDA, said: “This launch further strengthens ASDA’s leadership in own brand non-food items. flb has created a very appealing look and feel for the pack design.”

Colin Mechan, Executive Creative Director at flb, said: “Our challenge with this brief was to create packs that credibly compete with the strong brands within this sector and work across an extensive Asda range.  We also produced very clear guidelines, so that the packaging would be implemented consistently wherever it is produced.”
